Pontos or Giacca Marinara
"Pontos" is the word Greeks used to call the sea. It was a path, a bridge to connect islands, people, worlds. Our Pontos jacket is inspired by this word, a uniform to sail waters, cross bridges and be surprised by beautiful encounters.
The Pontos jacket is crafted in Florence, Italy, from hand-woven hemp fabric, destined to a bride dowry and sourced from fibers that are over a century old. The hemp is spun from plants that were cultivated in traditional, farming practices, ensuring a fabric that is rich in character. The hemp fibers have been woven on ancient looms, using a technique that dates back hundreds of years, resulting in a distinct tight weave that offers exceptional strength and durability ensuring both breathability and timeless quality. Hemp's natural texture provides a grainy feel to the fabric, giving it a rustic yet refined and classy appearance. The weight is approximately 300-350 gsm (grams per square meter), a medium-weight fabric that is substantial yet flexible, ideal for outerwear, making it breathable for warmer climates, but dense enough to provide a sense of warmth and protection. The jacket has a relaxed fit allowing for comfort and mobility. It features a mid-thigh length, tailored to provide a sense of structure but with room for layering.
It features 4 large flap chest pockets with raglan sleeves and drawstring waist that lets you cinch it in for shape. Mother of pearl buttons.
Our "Pontos" jacket is a very personal take on the legendary USAF M61, infused with a maritime-inspired design.
